Climate Strike Rally Overlook Park in Hood River

This Friday, September 20, people are encouraged to wear black and gather at Overlook Park (fish fountain next to the stairs) on State Street in Hood River to participate in the strike, either for an hour or for the day. Music will start at 3:30 PM and at 4 PM a rally will take place with speeches from youth leaders followed by a demonstration, depicting the ultimate effect on humans if climate change continues unchecked.

Climate Strike Week of Action Sept 20-27

The Gorge joins hundreds of locations, worldwide, calling for action to address the global Climate Crisis with a number of local activities to raise awareness and demand action. Also, please consider writing a letter to the editor of your local Gorge newspaper, writing or calling your Oregon and US members of Congress, and spreading the word this week on social media about this most critical of emergencies.

Make a sign for tomorrow's rally. If you want to combine sign making with watching the Democratic Debate, contact Debi ( or 541-980-2047) for directions to the place. We'll be gathering at 5 when the debate starts. Bring a dish or beverage to share if you wish.

Wednesday is Call Your Member of Congress day. We've got a script for you as well as some background information and some phone numbers. Also, don't forget that Thursday is Make a Sign or Make a Connection Day. Some of us will be making signs at the Debate Watch Party. If you'd like to join us, RSVP to Debi Ferrer for details ( Friday is the rally at The Dalles Post Office from 4:30 - 6:00 pm. We'll have plenty of signs to go around if you don't make your own. #DefundHate Day 2 Action - Learn!

Hi Folks. Yesterday we learned that Trump won't even allow Bahamians whose entire lives have just been devastated by Hurricane Dorian into the US without a visa. Last week we learned that Trump was deporting children and adults in the US for life-saving medical care. And families are still separated at the border. Today's #DefundHate action is to get ourselves more informed.
