POP Newsletter March 22, 2020

Dear Fellow Poppers, I hope this message finds you all healthy and safe. It will probably come as no surprise that our March meeting scheduled for next Tuesday is cancelled. We are looking into having an online meeting for April, but in the meantime, I’ll be sending out a newsletter each weekend with updates on local issues, as well as state and national issues, and what you can do to help the cause during this time of pandemic pandemonium. REMEMBER! You need to click the “Read more” link below to see this entire newsletter. It’s long but full of important info.

Don't Stand for this anti-democratic Walkout

Our state senator and representative are still MIA. They have walked out, leaving more than a dozen important bills stranded. Please call or email them today and tell them to get back to work.

Senator Lynn Findley - 503-986-1730
Representative Daniel Bonham - 503-986-1459

POP Meeting Reminder: Tues, Feb 25

REMINDER - It's Monday night and the meeting is tomorrow. The state climate bill is the big agenda item. Republicans have walked off their jobs and again and we have to convince them to come back or hold them accountable. We may have some local actions to respond to too! The Wasco County Commission has scheduled a special session for this Thursday at 3pm to discuss the climate bill. We will discuss if we need to do anything about this. The meeting was scheduled for 6pm at Route 30 but I just realized that the next Democratic debate is from 5-7pm our time.

Rapid Response Needed for Another Republican Walkout

The Republican State Senators have done it again. They literally walked off the job because they have not gotten their way. And now it's time for us to respond. Oregon Indivisible groups have put together a rapid response toolkit for this unacceptable action. Please, click "Read More" to download the attached document with background info and script ideas, and send an email or make a phone call or both. We can't let them get away with this again. Our state senator, Lynn Findley, is one of the truants.

Climate bill update; next POP Meeting (Tues 2/25 6pm)

Hello POPers,

Hearings galore continue at the capital as Republicans continue delaying tactics. We need all of you to send email testimony to . Resending comments sent to other committees in the past is okay. Please keep it nice and tie it to something personal. Tie your comments to actual impacts, personal stories, and your being a resident of Wasco County.
