Save Our Postal Service

POPPERS! Our election security depends on the US MAIL and as you know, Trump is doing everything he can to win the election, including making it harder for us to receive and return ballots by mail. Indivisible is asking us all to email and/or call our Members of Congress today or asap. Click Read More for a sample phone and email script and the phone numbers and addresses for Senator Merkley, Senator Wyden, and Representative Walden. Even though our two senators are in favor of helping the USPS, our calls and our emails give them the data they need to make a stronger argument.

Merkley Virtual Town Hall at 12:30 pm

Don't forget to join Senator Jeff Merkley's virtual Town Hall for Wasco County today at 12:30 pm. I'm sure there will be a lot to talk about, including the bill he is co-sponsoring that prevents the federal government from sending federal law enforcement to states unless they are requested by the state. You need to register to attend, and you can do so by sending an email to and put WASCO in the subject line. To join by telephone, call 415-527-5035 and use the access code 199 435 8051 when prompted.

Adopt-a-State Teams and LTEs

Last month, POP decided to "adopt" two swing states to help get out the vote there for Democrats , Arizona and Wisconsin. If you want to participate and haven't already signed on to one of the teams, please email to let me know your choice, so we can get started!

Also, if you want to be part of a Letters to the Editor team (12 of you said yes on the survey), let me know who you are.

Governor Brown issues statewide mask requirement

Update! After I sent out a newsletter today encouraging POP members to ask Wasco County Commissioners to vote to require masks in our county in public, Governor Kate Brown took it out of their hands. Starting Wednesday, Oregon will have a statewide mask requirement in public places. So how about flooding the Governor's office with post cards or emails thanking her for her leadership and the courage to save lives.
